>>38946988I think the situation is salvageable but one of the biggest problems is that Gamefreak did a fucking poor job of explaining themselves. "We're trying to make animations good puriizu undasutandu" is a fucking awful reason that deserves all the backlash it has gotten, ESPECIALLY when Swish Swoosh still looks like garbage.
The biggest reason why they made the switch to Pokemon Home and limiting Sword/Shield to Galar-mons only is so that you can use Home as your "National Dex" that you only have to fill out the bulk of once, then fill it in incrementally with every new game and generation. That's ok. Still dumb that they don't allow all Pokemon into Galar, but whatever.
The way I see it, the main reasons why you would want to transfer your Pokemon over are
>1) so you can battle with it in whatever post-game Battle Tower thing/online play>2) so you can see what neat tricks they learn with new mechanics>3) so you can see it in grorious big screen TV>4) to fuck around with it idk1) and 3) would be solved by a new high quality Stadium/Battle Revolution game that allows importing any and every Pokemon from Home. 2) would eventually be fixed by newer games, but it will suck right now. 4) would be partly solved by Home having a Amie/Refresh function but actually interesting, or really Home having any slice of life feel to it rather than a boring transfer button. Does it mean Sword/Shield is automatically absolved? No. Does it suck that you need to pay more shekels to get your fix of hi-def battles with your Blaziken from 2002? Yes. Are you going to buy the hypothetical new Stadium game anyway because it will be a much better use of your money than Sword/Shield? Yes.
I'm cautious about a mobile app cloud-based storage being the way forward, but I can at least accept it if they give me a reason to accept it.
