2. Every Pokemon is someone's favorite, it's unfair to say that just because you don't like them.
3. There's nothing wrong with a limited dex. It was fine in R/S and it was fine in B/W. But there is no reason to not program all of the mons in for those who want to use them, whether it be in challenge runs, egg runs, replays, their first playthrough, whatever. Things like origin markers can act as a gateway for online stuff so they can have their "balance".
4. What is the right direction? PS2 era open world areas?
There is no reason to not have all of the Pokemon in the games. There are a lot of Pokemon I'd never have thought twice about using if not for Wonderlockes or Egglockes, but have become favorites of mine.
