remember Pokebank? They made a new version called Home and it still costs subscription money but you can't even transfer Pokemon they don't want you to because they're not going to exist in Sword/Shield.
So yeah, you'll be paying a subscription /waiting/ on them to make a whole ass game in the future where they decide you're Pokemon can get through but not others you have in Sword and Shield.

cut half the pokemon from the game (they are not coded in at all), they said it is because of high quality animation (without showing them so no one belives) and game balance (which is bullshit since you can restrict pokemon for story/VGC/whatever in a lot of different ways).
