That's just impossible, sequels were inevitable. Poke anime was also the big thing for Pokemon's popularity worldwide and Gen 2 was already in it, they can't even recognize this. If they don't like them it's fine there's no need to act elitist and trying to influence the new games (that they won't even be playing) with their kanto pandering and making the game makers alienate the rest 80% of the franchise.
