Yeah, no. Pokemon's primary source of income is the games. See, merch is made for the games, who watches the anime? No games means no merch, and a boycott of Pokemon (what millions of people are calling for) means all of it, games, anime, TCG. Millions of people will simply stop "Pokemon"ing. The percent of the player base that would want to transfer every pokemon from the past games into S/S and wouldn't be fine transfering it to Home is like 1%
The percent of players that want to preserve their old favorites and use them in S/S is probably way higher, like maybe 10-15%.
But the vast majority of people that play the games won't give a shit about not being able to transfer because they never did before or will be fine with just transferring to Home.

It's just that they were really bad with how they announced this change and the faggots that are in that minority are the most autistic and loudest.

The games will still come out when they said and make a FUCKLOAD of money.
And I'm like 99% sure that most people that are upset about this now will chill once we learn more about Pokemon Home.

The merch makes far more money than the games, and games and merch rely on the anime to advertise them.

And there's far more anime-related merch than there is game merch.

It's more of a clear sign that pokemon is never getting better. People have held on hope for a few gens that we'd see another renaissance but have been shown that all that's left is the fall of an empire. People are just settling things emotionally and leaving for greener pastures.

Every franchise can be defined by certain core aspects. Upon altering said core aspects the franchise begins to lose its identity. People are fine more or less with every gimmick or change gamefreak has introduced over the course of series because they generally did not change the core of pokemon.

What is the core of pokemon? I believe that what makes pokemon different from every other monster catching series is the connectivity between games of the series. There are no other monster catching games where you are actually capable of moving a creature from a 2004 game (Ruby/Sapphire) all the way to a game that came out in 2017 (USUM). The fact that this is possible to this very day is a testament to the uniqueness of pokemon mainline titles. Now however every single game starting with SS will be a walled garden, incapable of being penetrated by any pokemon not found within its regional dex. Certain pokemon will remain locked behind in the past until the day gamefreak in their infinite greed decides to allow them to return for another game's pokedex. I have no doubts they will use this as a selling gimmick.

This "policy" is an attack against the very identity of the franchise. This is not just a hiccup, this is not a spinoff, they have gone out of their way to say that this is what pokemon will be from now on. They are devaluing the series that has for the longest time proven to be above any other monster catching game for the features it provides players with. Now with future pokemon games limited to a selection of specific pokemon instead of the entire library, the playing field against other monster games has been evened and the results for pokemon are: it looks horrible graphically, the animations are almost nonexistent and the story is infantile. There's no longer a reason to play Pokemon instead of another monster catching RPG. Gamefreak has abandoned Pokemon's greatest strength.

The trees legitimately look like something that came out of the N64 and the animations are nonexistent. People and Pokemon turn around like if they were robots on wheels. The empty barren world reminds me of shadow of the colossus and that was a PS2 game. It is even graphically horrible compared to modern day early access multiplayer indie games like Risk of Rain 2.

it's inconsistent, some areas look very pretty and have nice amounts of polish while others look very rough around the edges.
we get flame charge's animation then we get double kick we see characters moving with alot of fluidity then we see npcs moving like robots.
it's like the game can't decide if it wants to be a classic pokemon game or a console game

the quality is all over the place and this also reflects on the pokemon we currently have seen

Let me tell you assholes a story. I’ve played Pokémon on and off since RBY. BW are some of my fondest memories with video games but then I felt too old for the franchise and didn’t want to buy a 3DS so I scoffed at XY and thought Megas were the end of the franchise. Then the hype for SM came around and I couldn’t resist. I got a used 3DS just for these games and knew full well I’d be limited by what’s in game, not having anything in the bank. It was still absolutely glorious to reenter the Pokémon world and act like a kid again.

Since then I’ve gotten XY and ORAS and put all the non-Alola dex mons in the bank thinking they could come in handy for SWSH and you know what? My disappointment about the news lasted literally 5 minutes. I loved Sun and Moon without the National dex. People who are vocally upset right now are ruining the games for themselves. Seriously, you could all shut the fuck up and have something to be excited about but you’re hung up on a decade old team? Let go anons

Pokemon as we know and love it has been dying for a while and after they cut National Dex in Gen VII they finally started culling the mons. That's where I draw the line.
