If you look at Necrozma’s Z move it absorbs the trainer’s aura/infinity energy—leaving the trainer exhausted. So, it’s likely infinity energy that powers Z crystals too.
However, because you can only Dynamax in certain locations, it may be that Dynamax energy is another energy that’s somehow tied to the physical landmass of Galar. Seeing as you can’t mega evolve or use z crystals there, the Dynamax energy may also render infinity energy useless—preventing mega evolution and z moves from being used
