Is this guy being groomed to be Sugimori's successor? Most of the Gen 8 designs are pretty meh.

Like Sugimori before him, Turner is just the guy who puts the finishing touches on the designs or gives the other guys tips

He doesn't personally design all of the Pokemon

Sugimori and Turner were/are the quality control guys for designs

I believe he is only art director because it's a UK region. He is an english-man so he knows how a UK region should look. And we haven't really seen alot of the new Pokémon, so there could be many more awesome designs like Corniknight.
