How would you feel if Pokemon went back to 2D Sprites? Do you think it'll solve the retarded "Muh resources" issue? Or would GameFreak fuck that up regardless?

As far as Pokemon themselves are concerned the models Creatures made in 2013 were future proof, which is why GF has been recycling them for 7 straight years now. Remaking all the sprites like they did for old gens would require more effort.

I think a lot of sprites and moves as well had more impact compared to the more modern effects. Gen 3 Thunder is insane, but most moves now feel like they have the same momentum and overall impact to their animation. For sound see Gen 1 Rock slide; absolutely nonsensical but man does it feel like your opponent is about to get exodia'd. It's probably too late to go back and even then it would have to be some spinoff game. Some things are also definitely better with 3d.

Probably wouldn't cope with having to update sprite art every year or two unless they went the fatlus route and could get away with it (downscaling artwork/reusing assets from the 90s)

I would fucking love it and buy it in a heartbeat. I can't stand the shitty 3D games and their garbage art style. Spheres with flat textures.

At least put a fucking retro mode in like Dragon Quest is doing.

I don't know why I bother even getting interested in this franchise, I haven't actually enjoyed, much less finished a game since Sapphire.

Honestly the sprite artwork was very appealing. Every creature had a unique sprite that best represented the Pokemon for each gen. With BW/BW2 adding sprites that now move while in battle, it visually kicked ass and many of the move effects were also really neat, and sound effects felt satisfying, especially when you are launching thunderbolts and fucking elemental punches.

Fast forward to modern Pokemon and its now biting them in the ass. The models themselves aren't as expressive as they used to be and with them fucking up resources, even moves now look pretty shite in comparison. I certainly don't mind the 3D but if they are genuinely struggling to do this shit to the point where trees look like N64 turds and the roster is getting snapped, then imo they should've stuck with sprites, but refined them with each title. But its too late now Anon.

The resources are just a bullshit excuse. Their either lazy for not coping everything over from the 3DS games or incredibly incompetent for making the models "future"-proof and not being able to work with it in the end. Going back to 2D wouldn't solve a thing since it wouldn't cure their laziness/incompetence.

We all know we're not getting that from GF so I don't know what you're on about.

Gen 3 had some of the best attack animations, they actually felt like they had weight behind them.
