What is this thing going to do that he and GF think that this mitigates the fact that they're choosing not to include Pokemon into SS?

Just trading isn't going to be enough. Battling? Items can't be placed into Bank so why assume that can happen hear, so even then it would be lacking.
Why do they seem to think that this is somehow going to make their poor choices okay somehow?
