Games don't just magically appear on shelves. They have to be bug tested, translated, the cartridges, boxes, etc made and written too, then shipped worldwide to every store. The games are finished right now and aren't going to be 'cleaned up'. The E3 build is also not outdated, they were probably scrambling to finish it a few days before E3 knowing Gamefreak. It will release exactly as we saw it, if not worse.

It doesn't matter that there are 5 months left. Usually the by this time most of the game is finished and in place. They are moving on to polishing and qa testing before it has to go gold like the month before launch. So on that note game freak is a business first. They only care about money. So if you buy these games when gamefreak is clearly being greedy and showing they don't give a fuck you are part of the problem. In other words if you give an inch they take a mile. They will continue to screw you over and never fix it. The only way to fix it is by holding them accountable and protest/boycott this game. With enough pressure (ie them not selling games and making money) they will change (if they want to survive).

No. No they don't. They have maybe, MAYBE 3 1/2.

The game has to get finished and have a final build. That final build needs rigorously tested for game breaking bugs. That then needs final approval from Nintendo, then the game needs to go gold, which means that copies are beginning to be printed to cartridges. Then those carts need shipped to the 14 million stores globally in time to meet the launch deadline, which means they will likely sit there for a week or two leading up to launch.

The game is "done" like a month or two before launch date. It has to be to meet launch deadlines.

There isn't enough time to fix this.

That in no way excuses the dive in content depth since XY or the fact that S&S is breaking 17 years of series tradition because of Game Freak refusing to bring in outside help until it was too late.

E3 was very likely a 95% finished build. They're probably just in the finishing testing phase now and are localizing as we speak.

To do what exactly? Are game freak going to, in the span of 5 months (Less, actually >>38980357 ) going to decide to completely reverse their decision about the number of pokemon to include, start cracking the whip to get all of the old pokemon upscaled to the new system, including the cut mechanics of megas and zmoves, and then in their spare time make the overworld pokemon motions and interactable objects like the berry trees not look like ass?

Because, if they DID do that, they'd have made a really solid Gamecube game.
