Pits are not easy dogs to have. They're hyper and fiercely loyal. You could be angry at a sports game on TV and the dog will be looking for someone to kill because it thinks you're in danger.
Often times, pits are not mistreated. They're bred to fight, just like a border collie is bred to herd. You can't erase that from them. They have a high prey drive, incredible energy, and a fighting instinct. They're dangerous to have for anyone who isn't an experienced dog owner, yet people adopt them and treat them like they're a golden retriever.
I love all dogs, but the pit related breeds should not be bred anymore. And it pisses me off that people try defending them while ignoring what the dogs are, and more people get hurt and more dogs get put down.
