It's clear that Gamefreak is unable to continue making games as we know it out of laziness, incompetence, or having their hands tied. Iwata was the original savior back in GSC. Are there any prodigies in Nintendo/GF/Creatures' scope that are as talented as Iwata?

Masuda simply has given up and wants to be someone who works on something other than pokemon, where as james seems to genuinely still love pokemon. Give him the reigns of pokemon and let masuda go shit out some more games nobody will ever care about.

You get someone to take the reigns who can then direct the flow of what happens. And probably hire people under him to handle the coding instead of keeping an old guard who insist on using archaic ways of making games that are still stuck in the ds era.

I'm not sure about James, I'm not even fully convinced he's a good art director, what with all the noodle limb, Yokai watch looking designs. But putting that aside, if Morimoto wanted to direct I wouldn't object, same goes for the dude who directed BW2, think it was Unno?

If not these guys I think Nintendo should just hijack it, and develop it in house. Look at what new blood in the Zelda franchise did. You can argue whether BOTW was good or not, but you cannot doubt that they definitely made changes from the norm. Pokemon desperately needs new blood that loves the franchise and most importantly has passion for it. Game Freak has lost their passion sadly.

Pokémon games are a classic example of feature bloat. They finally realized that what they were doing wasn't maintenable in the long term.
They've been digging themselves into a hole for years and now it's finally come back to bite them back. This was bound to happen sooner or later.

Actually they tried to make it more like the original with free roaming and little caves.
They succeeded here but I miss big dungeons and more linearity with a good storyline, I love oracle of ages, ALtP/ALBW ST and TP so BoTW only felt like a good distraction.

No, probably not. Game Freak games have always been flawed. Gen 1 is a buggy mess, 2 has fucked level curve and distribution, 3 had limited Pokemon selection, 4 slow as fuck etc.

They even joke about this.

They didn't even try to fix it in the remakes, they just ported it with graphics and walking Pokémon and people ate that up.
>3 had limited Pokemon selection
Not to mention it started the legendaries hijacking the plot trend and a weird pacing problem after Lilycove.
>4 slow as fuck
They did fix the speed and distribution on the third region, however the environment slowing you down is still something I will criticize.

I would like to draw attention to something gen 3 and 4 actually did great in their design, their victory roads was a great final act filled with good conceptual demonic spiders and scarcity of resources, something I will always praise in RPGS.

I'll need a whole post to discuss gen5, it's not bad but it has a terrible first impression.

Do it like Nintendo is now making Zelda games. Have the original team co-develop the game.

Nintendo needs to hire more people for Monolith, and create a new Monolith team dedicated to co-develop Pokémon games. Gamefreak can stay in charge of characters, Pokémon designs and music while the programmers from Monolith are dedicated to create the world and program the game.

The problem is Game Freak doesn't want anyone but themselves and Creatures Inc. (who they have do all the modeling/ect. for them) work on it ever anymore because they want to keep as much of the $ as possible because fuck you. They won't accept any help besides that at all unless it's a "pry it from our cold dead hands" scenario. Which is why nothing will change, because no one can force them to change barring Masuda and co. being Yakuza'd overnight.
