Even half-assed mainline installments would've been decent in 2D. They wouldn't have to butcher sprites and include bullshit gimmicks like Megas or Dynamax to compensate for the lack of creativity.

They were really good designing 2d models and environment. They would probably have improved to God level in pixel art and designing world and mechanics,postgame, gameplay experience and so on.

3D actually was a mistake, because game freak doesnt know how shit how to do it

( the correct 3d way would have been battle revolution tier... Genius sonority)
