They can't do it here because investors/stock holders made Nintendo shit out a billion in lost sales/stocks when Animal Crossing was delayed because of panic after by then. Doing so with Pokemon too would make investors/ect. think the ship was sinking and would go retard as such trying to sell everything due to "lack of confidence anymore with their brands". Basically, Nintendo won't do jack shit because Investors/Stock Holders will autistically screech about it and demand heads rolling if they dare have more than one big selling title delayed even for a day.

Pokemon has a lot more moving parts than Animal Crossing. Most of Pokemon's profits don't come from the games, but the merchandise. Delaying a Pokemon game isn't just delaying a game, it's delaying every single piece of merchandise attached to the game. Releasing a half-finished game is preferable to not having new toys right before Christmas.

Things that happen if Sword and Shield is delayed until March:

So just wait for the inevitable third version where they add in all of the stuff they should have had in it in the first place.

From their pov: release now to push the various products/merch. Don't bother delaying to make it a better or more complete experience.
We'll buy ourselves time to actually finish the game proper and we'll even sell it as a full game instead of dlc or patches so we get more money out of it too.
Makes tons more money than delaying the game (losing holiday sales) and only selling 1 complete version.

Right, one problem, specifically the one where they said this will be their philosophy moving forward. Each game will have its own dex and only those mons will be available.
Third version won't even be able to fucking trade or battle with swish.

They can't do that NOW. They've already got the Sword & Shield stuff in production and ready for release when the games launch. They've moved on from Gen 7, it's too late to go back and make filler now.
