Anon, all removing Pokémon does is limit the pool of potential checks. Sure you might say that x Pokémon that was really good is gone now, but you know what? The next best mon that fulfills that role will just fill it in with even less checks to counterbalance it.
The 'most Pokémon are bad in the meta anyway' is while technically correct, ignores how randomly removing Pokémon does not improve the meta whatsoever. There's a reason why Lando, as omnipresent as it is, is at 44% in OU while Melmetal is at 90% in the LGPE format.

The Quality over quantity assumes that everyone fines the original object worth it.

With the quantity, chances are you will find more quality you enjoy.
You can eat at one restaurant which has a nice steak 100 times.
Or eat at one of 50 restaurants 100 times.

Having quantity(unique animations for each 800+pokes, contests, riding, megas, etc..), we should agree going back to pkm-range-sprites/Coliseu graphics.

Having quality(AAA matching graphics, animations and good gimmick), we should MAYBE agree not having full dex, old features and etc.

Unfortunatelly we don't get Quality neither Quantity. But get the content cut AND Nitendo 64 graphics.
