Then do more fucking spin offs like they used to.
Give the mainline games an extra year of dev time, and during those years have a B team with people rotating out working on weird shit like Pokemon Snap and Hey You Pikachu or whatever again. Maybe bring back Pokemon Stadium, or make a big new Pokemon Puzzle League for the Switch.

People might care more about the IP if it didn't look fucking embarassing, its bad enough that the first console game looks like an upressed 3DS game, but it won't even have as many pokemon as a 3DS game.
Pokemon didn't get better when it finally moved ti consoles it got fucking worse.

You know what's sad and a wasted opprotunity? The fact that Gamefreak never considered expansions. I really think if they did, they could use that to stave off the wait between games, make fans happy, and have their B team doing something while their A team works.

Seriously, just imagine if we got expansions on par with what you would get in older PC games. Stuff akin to Marine Mania or Bloodmoon in terms of size.

What they should do instead is release 1 game then instead of doing an enhanced version later, they do DLC expansions to the original game with new areas, but most importantly a handful (like 15-25 or so) new Pokemon and some returning mons, move tutors, Battle Frontier, and do stuff to rebalance the game if needed. Do an expansion every 8 to 12 months for 3 or so expansions and then move on to the next gen. More people would probably buy a "season pass" to Sword and Shield than Pokemon Gun Version.

I suppose if you wanted a decent game, the best thing to do would be to speak with your wallet. Stop buying the garbage they release and buy/promote better games. If enough did this and it impacted game freaks wallet, then they’d have no choice but to step up or die. Though who am I kidding right? You should never draw conclusions from total sale numbers only. /vp/ always makes this mistake. Take into account the number of years/months each game was the newest Pokémon title in stores.

HGSS was on the market for a year before BW came out.
ORAS was in the market for two whole years before SM came out. It is natural that games who stayed longer as the recent title without being outdated sold more units total
