My theory is it's a Pokemon hub that combines Pokemon Box and My Pokemon Ranch. It's the reason why Game Freak is removing the national dex for good, they want Home to be the true place for all Pokemon to go now.

This is what I was thinking.
It could be they intend to make Pokemon Home the new National Dex where everything gets stored.
They already confirmed trading. They may not have battling in it by the time it launches, but I expect they'll try to make it happen sometime during Gen 8 and push Home as a kind of Pokemon Showdown but only with Pokemon you actually caught/raised/injected.

My guess would be it goes
>Release with just trading and a National Pokedex in it like that one 3DS Pokedex app
>Add Amie like functionality to it later on
>After say a year they finally add battling to it
Same way Pokemon Go sorta went.

You can still transfer mons out and if the mon is in the galar dex it can be transferred in. So your old FRLG Charizard and shit like that can be brought over.

In a realistic scenario imo Home will most likely:

This is exactly what it is, if you get Home to transfer your Tirtouga to Swooshie, and Tirtouga doesn't end up in /ss/, then you gotta wait to see if he'll be in the next game. It seems the trend is that they release two games, one one ear and the other the next, and then there's a few years time until the next gen, so if he ain't in that gen at all, you gotta wait to get him back

They haven't said anything about the cost of it yet.
I'm hoping it just gets included in the Nintendo Online subscription. They really need to add more perks to that and this seems like a no-brainer.
