It just needed a few more tweeks and it would be a perfect fighting game. But I do agree the game was amazing. Seems to me that the only people capable of making a good pokemon game is everyone but Gamefreak.

It is indeed a good pokemon game and seriously underrated. If u go serious into the game theres so much mechanics into it. And only retarded people wants all pokemon to go into pokken. It will only dilute the amount of effort that goes into designing the skills of each pokemon

Because pokemon fans are too dumb to play fighting games well. For fucks sake they struggle at smash, and it's for literal children. Also, them not releasing any new characters and only for jap arcades was disgusting. Then to make it worse they made you buy a whole new console and game just to play the new characters, again disgusting. It is a great game, but horrid jap practices is what killed it.

Pokken was a good idea that just didn't land properly.
It would have been better if it'd just been a 2D fighter. It also needed a much larger roster.

yes i think it is fun if u enjoy fighting games. for casual players, the hits are quite easy to connect and kids love them. for more hardcore players, the online scene is really competitive and really not that easy to win with button mashing. u need strategy and tactical knowledge and patience and skills

I liked it, the dlc they made for deluxe was also fun, but it was clear from the way the character and assist select ended up looking like that they planned for more content, were there any characters that ended up never leaving the arcade version?

It's a shame because it's actually a very high quality game with an incredibly balanced roster. But Pokemon fans hate it because it takes too much skill/lacks their favorite while fighting game fans dislike it because it's Pokemon (which is for kids) and on first glance appears basic (attack triangle, field phase). I do think there is a chance for the series to get a sequel but it's not a huge chance.

Initial roster was a bit weak but there were some good choices. Two Pikachus, two Mewtwos, and Charizard sucked but there were plenty of good additions. I thought the Switch version did much better with it's additions.

I just turned this game on to play free battles before seeing this thread. It really is a fun game, but I understand why people don’t like it. It plays like an actual fighting game where specific buttons do specific things that lead to specific combos.
