Based off of that I assumed it just meant that there might be instances of 'oh, the gym leader is out, you should go to X place and look for them' mixed together with smaller objectives. It's clear that at least some of them have actual gyms based on the e3 demo though

Serious now. Breeding is flawed and could be way more interesting and fun, but at GameFreak they don't fix things. They throw out the baby with the dirty bathtub water.

Then the whole point of shiny hunting becomes an active one doing shit LGPE style and you just added a potential grind to tutor or acquire the egg moves in those shinnies, not to mention an active barrier for natures.

Id rather go the RNG breeding route for customizing Pokémon.

GameFreak being GameFreak, I think they'd simply remove breeding and eggs altogether. No way to change nature, IVs are still there, and egg moves are on best hypothesis done through tutors and TMs.

Yeah. I honestly don't mind the inclusion of some pre-gym quests, especially if it works to show off what the Gym leaders do in the region outside of battles. Gens 4 & 5 did a fairly good job of that

This is untrue actually, there was a third post by the leaker explaining that it wasn't a typo. Instead of fire fighting it's a pure fighting type, I'm guessing this type of thing will be the case for the other two starters as well which might be interesting.
