Many of us are rightfully angry about the way Pokemon franchise is being handled. However, in this thread, let's talk about things that made us love pokemon in the first place.

Pokemon has always been one of my favorite game series even though I decided not to buy the last two gens.
Collectibles are some of my favorite things in games, and turn-based RPGs are tied as my favorite genre. Naturally Pokemon just appealed to me.
At this point I'm mainly in the franchise because I like seeing the monsters and while others may call them shit I love a vast majority of the designs of the last few games. I hope gen VIII continues to have great Pokemon even though this looks like another game I'l skip out on.

For me I've always loved exploring the new regions and seeing new pokemon. Finding new favourites and learning more about the world of Pokemon is the main reason I play.I like how you can make a team of basically anything and beat the games.

My favourite feature from the latest games would have to be Amie/Refresh. I loved seeing my pokemon up close, petting them and playing minigames.

Favourite pokemon are: Gumshoos, Tangrowth, Bewear, Scrafty, Toxicroak, Weezing and Garbodor.

Favourite types: Normal, Poison and Fairy

Yeah, Scorbunny is my favorite this far, and I'm quite interested how it will evolve since "grow bigger and more buff" thing that's regular for many fire starters (not that I dislike them, Tepig line was pretty neat) wouldn't work well for a rabbit, so I think GF might come up with something different and pretty interesting here.
Sobble is cute and it's quite hard to predict what it will end up as by evolving, so I'm looking forward to this as well.
Grooky's alright, but doesn't attract my attention much so far. Still seems to have a lot of potential.

What I love of all of it is the limitless potential for worldbuilding in two dimensions. There are people who want to battle with Pokémon, comparing stats, collecting cards, strivng for perfection in battle with military discipline; while others just want to have a nice adventure with their lifelong partner, growing up together, dedicating a portion of their lives to each other.
As for me, I will act like Sword/Shield just doesn't exist. I really think it's an insult to the whole concept of Pokémon at large.

The more you love Pokémon the more you hate Game Freak.

I enjoy variety.
There are tons of pokemon to love, tons of pokemon to battle with, tons of pokemon to read pokedex entries on.
I can make a team with the ones that are the cutest, can try to make a team as balanced and OP as possible or simply pick random pokemon for new experience.
I also love how there are a lot of additions to the franchise that deepen the world and are just an interesting fresh look. Detective Pikachu movie was what brought me back in the community after I forgot about it and I started playing pokemon games because of the anime. Spin-off games are pretty fun as well.
