For instance, perhaps GameFreak doesn't own the Pokemon franchise at all and they might be only holding onto the rights to the video games. And parhaps the vast majority of the profits of the Pokemon games goes to Nintendo and TPCI, which is why not only isn't just pouring man-hours into making SwSh a AAA game, but moving their highest paid people to another franchise entirely.
But that means Masuda isn't wiping his ass with million yen notes.
