>>39005118The obvious answer there would be to retcon it so every Eeveelution has an environmental based method alongside a stone method. For example, you can evolve eevee into Vaporeon with a water stone or while surfing somewhere. Espeon either during the day or with a Sun Stone. Sylveon could be a Shiny stone or leveling up in a field of flowers.
That is getting into straight up retcon territory, but it would allow both environmental adaptations alongside the 'unnatural' stone-induced mutations
