I don't transfer either and always use exclusively new Pokemon, but it's still bullshit that several hundred Pokemon will just be flat out missing from the game. Taking away options and personal favorites is never a good thing.

There's nothing that suggests they'll be removed completely, though. All that was stated was that mons not in the galar regional dex couldn't be imported from a previous gen for balance reasons. Stealth Rock being a TM in previous generations is more than enough to warrant that.

That has nothing to do with balancing. Non game breed pokemon were already banned from ranked online fights and VGC. Why would move issues like matter for anyone not playing smogon meta?

I was the same basically. Only time I transferred was cause the orginal DS had a slot for DS and GBA so it was easy to get stuff from my ruby game. Other wise in the past you needed 2 systems to transfer over.
I am willing to transfer now though cause I have so many leg Pokemon from events. So I will transfer my X/Y and S/M Pokemon to the cloud, since it's so easy. Really don't want to lose my mew and other legendary s.

There are "special pokemon" that are banned from the battle tree, hacked mons are (supposed to be) banned from online, even back in Gen II there was a function that detected and prevented you from transferring pokemon with HM moves. They couldn't just eradicate a move from competitive by detecting that move and preventing it from playing until the move was deleted? Come on.

I always start fresh too but I bring pokemon forward from other games. I have some that I trained as a young lad that hold sentimental value, as well as one of a kind Pokémon described above. It’s the fact I won’t be able to use these that hurts, some of them have medals from every possible region for example, but will miss out on Galar ones because of a dumbass game design decision. I’m holding out hope they patch compatibility a year or so after release
