why does game freak have an obsession with the whole fire/fighting starter idea? they did well with the fennekin line but then incineroar was just a fighting type in disguise and now this?

Easier to market, Fire Starters are usually the most popular among the younger fans (the target audience) so they need to make them more dynamic and easy to animate so they can shill them, also easier for kids to imagine them fighting compared to something like Torterra for example.
There’s also that Blaziken was a huge success.

Fire water and grass are a closed loop type, and so is dark, psychic and fighting, so while gen 6 was in the right way, they should have done it backwarda kind of like gen4 where infernape can deal with empoleon because steel is weak to fighting, and how empoleon can damage torterra with water. And torterra buries infernape in the ground, not a closed loop but not a bad standard
