Honestly I'm okay with this in general, if it means no yearly releases with new games becoming obsolete in a year tops.
But if this is the case why not put their ALL into Sword and Shield to make it last for the next few years?

No game can last multiple years, not in this day and age. Game these days can barely last more than a few months.

These days, people get bored quickly and are always looking for the next hot new thing. And of course, they're contractually obligated to release new games every so often so that the rest of the franchise can release new stuff too. That's the price Pokemon pays for being a multimedia franchise.

The only reason Skyrim is still played to this day is mods

The days of just being able to release a game and have people play it for years are over, nowadays people won't stick around unless you shit out updates and DLC every so often

Once again, that is not at all true of the core audience which is the audience that matters. Only casuals care about DLC and shit.

The ones who keep coming back every day don't need DLC and they're the oens who matter, who keep a community and therefore game alive because there's always someone around to answef questions etc.

Just because you've let game companies get in your head doesn't mean we all have. No one would care if DLC stopped being a thing entirely.

Actually, I take that back, even if they didn't really notice, somewhere inside they'd be grateful as hell for not being nickel and dimed constantly anymore and actually having complete games at purchase.

Then why not make Sword and Shield a solid fucking game and then set a small man team aside to shit out some DLC for it over the course of a couple of years, a few new pokemon, mini-regions with their own stories and etcetera, that the fans would fucking eat up like nothing else and prolong the life of SS, while the rest of the company can be focused on building new franchises.

Don't just drop a turd and walk away, expecting to come back to a happy fanbase, emaciated faces bearing shit-flecked teeth in a hopeful smile, hopping Daddy GF drops trou and starts grunting out another dollop.

they still have their shares in the pokemon company. they'll still make tons of money and they won't have to churn out shitty games they're not interested in making

town isn't the type of game to get an international simultaneous release. the nips are seething at gamefreak, I get the feeling they'll boycott the company as a whole. that means town will bomb hard in the local market, get translated at cost to go western, release to no fanfare and bomb a little less hard in the rest of the world.

Heavythesquid drove off the older players since they didn't want to be associated with a pedophile and the release of Smash Ultimate stole away the rest of them. The game will only get more dead with the last splatfest happening

Would a pokemon game last longer if instead of pumping out 3rd versions that are incompatable in some aspects with prior entries, they learned how to jew people out with DLC expansions and more frequent events
