The thing is, the story isn't as big a problem as the gameplay being stripped away and while he's going along with it, Masuda is the main guy whose ideas are being pushed by his own admission.
If you watch some of the videos of them together he often looks quietly mortified by what Masuda is saying when he's said something we also believe to be asinine.
From what we know, while I wouldn't be at all sad about his death as my tweet to him implied, I really just want him fired for not standing up to him as it relates to gameplay. His hack story would probably be easier to take if there was something worth it at the end of it all but there's just not.
