Is it like an American thing, where you will stand for a company rather than the consumer? Defend all it's choices and belittle anyone who is critical for them even as they treat you like shit?

I mean, why are these people defending Gamefreak and Nintendo? There's no actual worth to it as person. Nintendo and Gamefreak won't suddenly be your friends. They're companies. Meanwhile, vocal complaints by a majority of fans means some sort of change would occur and improve the product. Are Americans just taught to not challenge anything even if it'd make their lives better?
