The overworld doesn't strike me as boring or soulless at all, this just sounds like anger from Dexit bleeding into all reception of the game. A lot of people outside of /vp/ love the way the game looks. The main reason I defend them is fags here twist everything GF does into a negative, calling them shit and making me wonder how you guys are actually fans instead of /v/. For example, Ride Pokemon, UBs as a concept, Alola's environment, and SOS battles were fantastic elements of SM/USUM but fags here shit on the game as irredeemable garbage over the cutscenes. It's so stupid how you let any imperfection decide the whole game is shit for you. That's why the appreciation you see for a Gen 6 or Gen 7 game is hidden in something like a 'last game you enjoyed' thread instead of having its own threads, since pessimistic asswipes that populate here, Reddit, and wherever else swoop in to dismiss the entire game.
For S/S yeah Dexit is a problem but all the other nitpicks are trivial.
