Even if everyone currently mad left the franchise for good and shunned and boycotted pokemon, it wouldn't make a dent. No one cares, no one is listening, and the issue isn't that big a deal. This franchise could suffer several bad games over the course of almost a decade and still come back. No matter how pessimistic you are about this game and "the decline of the franchise" it's just a game and time will move on completely indifferent to your fanboy anguish.
And in spite of it all people will buy and play this game and see nothing wrong because they aren't picky at all and just think the new pokemon are cute.
