They were doing more interesting things where swapping to mega would change stat spread instead of simply juice it up, and there were a few abilities that would reward you for changing to them at opportune times. I was starting to have hope that they'd realised the mega system was able to be used to make the game more interesting mechanically instead of just visually.
And then they retconned the whole damn thing so they could have the same damn battles as before but now they're big and glowy. Fuck this gay earth.
