Can somebody hazard a guess as to why there's so much criticism of pokemon design lately? Like this is /vp/ don't we all like pokemon? G-guys?

In my opinion at least too many pokemon suffer from toy design syndrome.The only ones that don't are grookey,croviknight,the grass line,and maybe wooloo. Impidimp and Yamper are my least favorite as they look unfinished, also in the back of someone's mine this took their favorite pokemon

Honestly I feel like it is because Sugimori isn't the art director this time around. Remember this statement about balance in a design? It kinda feels like that's missing in Gen 8.

I think the stylistic theme of Pokemon has definitely changed over the years. It's definitely less "cool" and more trying to appeal to 5 year olds rather than 10 year olds.

anytime a new game comes activity surrounding pokemon goes up this means new people are on the board and people will argue about the new designs and bring up old designs to rile people up or use as counter examples. it will die down after the game have been released. Also pyroar is the worst designed pokemon in the game and is literally a deviantart fake mon and if you like it you actually have terrible taste and should be ashamed. It's actually objectively worse than icecreammon, pokeballmon and blackfacemon.
