Because all the pokemon that we've seen thus far have shown SUCH improvements.

I actually like the idea of having pokemon that would more accurately represent the country's biomes as part of the regional dex. But we've already seen plenty of pokemon that are shoehorned in because of the Wild Area changing weather daily.

Maybe the Tapu's made them realize they really fucked up.
Tapu Koko pretty much invalidates every offensive Electric type that isn't Zekrom or an Arceus variant. If Koko is allowed, you are literally putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don't use it as an offensive electric type over something else.
Then theres the fact that Misty Terrain is actually very good when it can be automatically set. When you look at it, you can't really nerf the Tapu's Surge abilities without nerfing the terrains themselves, and the terrains aren't good when you have manually set them (mostly due to the fact that they are attached to shitmons). But with how the Tapus are as well, you can't really just get rid of the ability from them either.

But those powerful legendaries are typically box art legends and banned. Plus, Game Freak typically balances around Doubles, as seeing how they saw Aegislash as a perfectly fine Pokemon because its only just good in Doubles as opposed to cancer in Singles.
Tapus are even better in Doubles than they are in Singles, and like I said before, you can't exactly nerf the terrains. So it's just better (in their view) to keep them in purgatory until they can think of something.

If they wanted to avoid people using them at all, they can simply have them not in the regional dex, make it so only pokemon in the regional dex can be used online, but still let people transfer them over for in game.

If they actually wanted to try and balance it, they could have the Surge abilities only cause the terrain for 3 turns rather than the full amount to make it less reliable

I’ve got two living dex’s, all my Pokemon have ribbons, and I’m just tired. I wanted to bring them with me, I feel lost that a game I waited so long for (after deciding oh yeah let’s skip LGPE because they promise the next one will be for older fans/a proper game) and it’s just fucking garbage.

I understand that part of pokemon is the novelty. Exploring, trying, and capturing. But the game has pretty much remained the same since gen I, a slow, grindy turn-based game of semi-rock-paper-scissors with some strategies far superior to others due to knock out via hp reduction being the primary focus and means of winning.
