What if after generation 8 is completely over (after S/Sh and whatever is next) gamefreak changed the style of pokemon and made it like octopath traveler?

How would you guys feel about it and would you welcome it?

If they could make a game like this without culling pokemon, or features, or gimmicks, more power to them. The only real concern to me is that the systems are functional and complete, and the art is self-consistent.

I would be absolutely fine with that. Take gen 5 sprites and polish them. A more simplistic style could potentially make GF build a better world to explore.

Either that, or we could get games that follow the Colosseum and Gale of Darkness formula, with Double battles as the main format.

why do people think octopath traveller looks good? it looks like babby's first rpg maker game with an instagram filter slapped on it.
a 2d pokemon game in 2019 should have breath of fire-tier spritework in the overworld and snk-tier spritework in battle.
