>>39038866I get emotionally attached to my pokemon and see them as friends, but only after I've had them for years: I don't care much for most of the newer ones but I've owned my OG team from Leaf Green since childhood and carried them up to each newer game ever since, and I feel very emotionally attached to them since I've had them so long, even though they're still cartoony and not real.
The confession is less that and more when I found out about the new on SWSH during the direct livestream I actually got genuinely upset because, even though the games looked like shit, my brother (who is older than me) hadn't played a pokemon game in 10+ years and we'd never been able to play together as kids because we didn't own a link cable, so we were looking forward to SWSH since we both had switches so we could finally play together and he could finally get his favorite pokemon for once, which was Alakazam. When the news broke he and I decided to boycott them since we both found all the downgrades graphics and dex wise too much to ignore this time and now we're back to square one.
Also, all but ONE of my team from LG is actually confirmed to be in the game, so I'm pretty sure my entire team sans them is now banned in Galar so I won't part over any of them since I'd feel like a bastard to separate them after all this time, but I won't get Galar because I'd feel heartbroken to leave them all behind. I don't know if I'm overtly sentimental or something but it just felt wrong to me, so I've decided to skip over these games.
