Throh and Sawk were ruined because they wanted to make them distinct from pokemon that are literally recolors of each other, the irony. Hydreigon turned out fine but could have been cooler. Basculin is low effort filler and its true that there still is a shit selection of water types in BW if you dont have Samurott (Jellicent is the only good choice but chandelure and golurk are stiff competition for the ghost slot).
