3 is the best. 2 was the one that made a big wave in Japan despite looking and playing exactly like the first one but with a different story and more Yokai. 2 makes the first one obsolete but it's still a cute game.

I was really into it when it first started up in japan, but the localization team just shat the bed SO HARD. I don't know how you can find an anime dub team with only like 3 voice actors who insist that they don't need to try and match lip movements and think it's a good idea to hire them.

both series' games definitely run laps around anything pokemon has put out since BW2, but as a franchise, pretty much nothing can compete with pokemon. They could slap the logo on pretty much anything and pokemon autists would lap it up.
As long as we still keep getting games from digimon and YW, I'll be happy though.
