All Gens have a 3 year development cycle. GameFreak has been working on these games since 2016. This is the same as several other games, and they only have remakes/third versions handled by smaller teams using the same engine.

Besides that, interesting. What needs to change in my opinion is the development time. 3 years is not enough clearly, Game Freak as a whole can not handle it.
