Okay seriously, why do some people keep saying Gardevoir is furry? I really don't see how human-like Pokemon like Gardevoir are considered furry.

>no fur/hair all over the body
>no tail
>no feline/canine ears
>no sharp teeth
>human appearance
>no pa.ws
>no feline-like eyes
>no peck
>not based on real animals
>based on humans, or at least looks like one
>there used to be real-life animals in the Pokemon world (at least in the anime)
>doesn't purr
>doesn't bark
>no wings
>no fins

Really, how is Gardevoir a furry in any way?

I've come to the realization that the term furry means whatever the person using it wants it to mean. I've seen people unironically claim that simply playing Splatoon automatically makes you a furry because "technically they're animals, even if they have no fur you have no intentions to fuck them".

Gardevoir in its base form isn't furry, its considered 'otherkin'.

But since most gardevoir art has the gardevoir with huge tits or something, then its an anthropromorphized gardevoir

That's subjective at best, if a Gardevoir came up to me and said it looks human I'd laugh at it until it left with its head hanging in shame.

Given it's protective nature it's more along the lines of guardian angels, something that became more apparent when it gained the Fairy type in Gen 6.

One could argue that the white parts jutting out of the sides of its face could count since it doesn't behave like hair. There's also the issue of the horn on its stomach.

It depends on who you ask but most will say it's due to the fandom's lack of social awareness or social filer, the constant need to defend itself from criticism (justified or otherwise), the need to insert their fetish of choice (including furry themes) into what they do without any regard to public reception, and the fandom's inability to weed out sexual deviants like pedophiles and zoophiles/zoosadists.

Beats me, but I do see some similarities in both fandoms whenever I peer into the weekly Gardevoir threads.

during like the late 90s, even if mostly because it's also become an umbrella term for a number of things: scalies, avians, elfs, ponies, you name it.

Under those parameters, Gardevoir fits pretty well. It's decidedly nonhuman but similar enough to a human in body shape that it has the exact allure of "animal, but not exactly" that furry aims for.

Some people still believe furry is only about degenerates and stuff, and haven't caught up with the evolution of the term since the 90s. Nowadays being a furry is one of the most normal things ever. See: sport teams mascots.
