I like the later ones more for looking like actual road signs. The gen 4 one is fucking awful now that I look at it. Basically never paid much attention to them until now.

It's simple but otherwise decent. Heck, it actually has a decent amount of polygons and some adequate shading.

Instead it's a copypaste of the DS games. Also the overworld assets for gen 2 were new.

Well that's a great typo. Gen 3 used new overworld assets, gen 2's were mostly recycled from 1 with minor downgrades to detail.
