It might as well be sprites with the model/sprite being static while a generic attack appears from a hitbox in front of all mon (Psyduck spraying water from his scalp....)
Pokémon is garbage. Get new devs already. Give this to EA, anybody. If EA made it, it would have about as much content as a GF game but I bet it would at least look fucking nasty.
