While the visuals in the Wild Area are full of questions, the functionality of it clearly had a lot of effort put into it.
This is the first place they've really tried diversifying EVERYTHING in.
Varied weather system rather than just one specific weather type or seasons, a fuckload of pokemon to find in one area, the chance to encounter Pokemon way over your level that outright can't be caught and act as just threats/EXP challenges, actual multiplayer where other trainers run around the area with you, a new modified version of the PSS, and more.

Like, the trees look like shit, but the ambition and effort is clearly there mechanically. The problem is more that they likely didn't know or didn't want to risk making the area very dense since it's such a huge step for them.

Should've made an open-world non-pokemon game thats relatively simple and confined.

Like a game that just takes place in one Town but still pushes for exploration and RPG elements, and then release that game on Nov 15, 2019 and sometime Summer of 2020 or even late winter 2021 (February) release Sword and Shield, after years of development and hard but careful work

Route 1 is always extra scenic, remember that one useless little pathway in X/Y? This is literally the same thing.

I’ve always wondered, what happens if you get lucky and manage to catch those Pokémon? Wouldn’t you be able to breeze through the gyms?

Not him but the E3 demo showed 23 minutes of game footage and it's actually very impressive with the performance. It even has a x2 speed up for battles. Well 3 modes but i think hyper is x2

No, you LITERALLY can't catch them. It says so on the site. They're "very powerful pokemon that are always on guard so you can't even throw a Pokeball when first starting your adventure"
It'll probably be similar to the obedience thing where having badges will let you catch the higher level Pokemon in the wild area (and maybe make even higher level ones appear)

Yes, clearly this is just a cinematic.
Did you not realize that the games tend to use in-game cinematics?
They do have some cinematic scenes set in higher quality locations, but those are very rare. The introduction to the starter pokemon seem to be one of those instances since the area they were playing in seems a bit higher quality than how we see it later.

The shots of the towns were all shots of how they actually look in the game, no cinematic enhancement besides some camera angles.
Those angles could still hide shit of course. No one noticed or freaked out over the trees in the Wild Area when the trailer dropped a week before E3 because the camera never focused on them. It was just during the demo when it got a closer look that people started freaking out over them.

They already showed Corviknight flying around the Wild Area, so there's certainly gonna be Gen 8 mon in it.

For the demo and trailer stuff, they probably turned off all other Gen 8 mon, same way they had NPCs off in the first trailer compared to the second trailer.

It looks alright to me, but I also have low standards for this stuff. If someone told me these were the graphics of some random ass RPG or small budget fighter I'd be like yeah that looks decent. But these are the graphics from the biggest media franchise on the planet.

I shouldn't be comparing Pokemon to Atelier or Samurai Shodown. I should be debating is this the best looking game on the switch or not because the graphics are blowing me away. Instead it is a train of excuse making saying why a company that has the resources to do better fails.

Zelda only releases every few years. Mario ranges but they have many different teams on his shit.
Pokemon is done by GF and expected to release something every year or two. And unfortunately, the people that manage the teams at GF are apparently retarded and keep splitting off into more projects rather than focusing on the things they have a small window on.

It's literally a sandbox area with minimal assets and randomly generating pokemon like LGPE/Go.

What will happen:
- exit a city and head into Wild Area
- 10 seconds of black screen
- a random Wild Area is loaded from the following - sunny day, rainy day, snowy day, sandstormy day
- each weather system has a set of encounters attached to it
- explore the empty sandbox to catch everything, and sometimes do Raid Battles
- as you get gym badges, city entrances are opened up

The Wild Area will become boring as fuck after a couple of explorations.
