Given a chance with the one rule above I would make Blue’s canon team Pidgeot-Alakazam-Machamp-Exeggutor-Arcanine-Gyarados. Machamp fits with the edgy aspect someone pointed out, Pidgeot and Alakazam are heavily associated with Blue, and the three non-starter substitutes are three-stage lines compared to the starter substitutes being two-stage lines.
