Eh, it's not that bad. I probably wouldn't have noticed most of the framedrops, but that's just me. And hey, you gotta give em credit for trying something new.
Now, compare that to Pokemon Sword and Shield not only having to stop itself to load wild battles, but also having N64 trees, wingull drones, and cut pokemon with horrible excuses.

That's because the forest has the most effects and loads a shit ton of pokemon. In battle you move to a different area so their is no slowdown
