Nowadays most of them just puts up monthly packages that are usually worth it, and I don't really see a problem with spending 5 bucks a month for a game that keeps me busy during commute.
Without to mention that a game as big as Pokemon Masters will probably be up and receive support until mobage stops being a thing.

It is a problem with the game. Games like this are designed to psychologically manipulate you. Whether you have self-control or not is irrelevant because the game is deliberately designed to wear down that self-control.

There's a constant psychological battle between you and the game. The game is intentionally made tedious or near unplayable without paying in order mentally pummel you into paying.

I, for example, am just autistically curious about this game and not willing to spend a penny on it. Actually, I'm not even gonna download it.

I just want to see all characters that appear in it, so just seeing gameplay videos on YouTube will do. Also, I hope that the VGresource guys crack the game and rip all the models from it.

That's the whole appeal to me. Definitely not going to hook on any gacha shit.
