Most people prefer Icicle Crash, but I've always had bad luck with moves that don't have 100 Accuracy.
Is Ice Punch an acceptable substitute, or should I just bite the bullet and breed for Icicle Crash?

I'd say go for Icicle Crash, anyway. The 30% flinch rate and 10 extra BP outweighs the 10% accuracy reduction and 10% freeze chance imo.
Ice Punch is also a tutor move in USM so if you end up really hating Icicle Crash for some reason, you can easily get it swapped out later on.

Egg moves get saved via the move relearner as of gen 6 so just breed for it anyway.
