HMs are not fun in the slightest, biking does not affect gameplay at all it just speeds up transportation, and breeding defeats the purpose of limiting your selection of pokemon.

They were companion pieces for the RSE games. They were never meant to have every pokemon catchable. And even then, every pokemon was still programmed in and tradeable to them unlike Sword and Shield.

A. They were spin offs, so you were not losing your collection from the mainline games.
A2. Even if you were losing your collection, the loss would be way smaller than SWSH, which has you lose over a decade of progress.
B. The Pokemon were still in the code. You could still use them, and even connect the Pokemon from the GBA games to battle in 3D
C. The graphics would be slightly below average for NGC games, the console it was released on. SWSH looks like they took an N64 game and added Human/Pokemon despite being 4 generations ahead. The animations are also far better with the NGC games despite having about the same amount of Pokemon in the code
D. Colosseum and Gale of Darkness made up for missing elements by providing new elements to set them apart from the mainline games and being their own as spiritual successors to the Stadium games.

There is no Pokemon game where you can catch every Pokemon, but it is possible to obtain all of them through catching, evolving, and trading them. You can even use rental Pokemon in Colosseum mode.

There's no world to explore since you fast travel between locations. It was intended that the player train up stronger Pokemon on their GameBoy Advance games to use them in Colosseum mode.

/vp/ is not a hive mind. The general consensus of these games is positive because they shook up the formula while retaining the core of Pokemon battling; they have remained a breath of fresh air in the series ever since.

It's not a route-based game. You don't need a bike. HMs are a shit mechanic, and breeding is only really useful for people who refuse to inject.

Colosseum let old Pokemon shine brighter than they did even in their source generation. Sword and Shield don't even bother to have all of the old Pokemon.

They don't have models for each Deoxys form. However, they all behave normally when used via a link battle via Colosseum. A Deoxys from a LeafGreen cart will have higher defenses, a Deoxys from Emerald will be Sanic fast.

Not defending anything, but lack of breeding is a legitimate issue, also, as an aside, you can use any of your Pokemon in any Post-Bank game at any point you can access a PC, no post game required, which the GC, DS and GBA games were seemingly allergic to:

They're challenging games that require you to use Pokémon that have terrible availability in the core series, putting a spotlight on Pokémon and mechanics you can't use normally. Double battles don't get much use in the main games, these are one of the few where Protect is more than just obnoxious and Fake Out can actually do something strategic.
No HM slaves and having areas that can be traversed quickly on foot is a good thing.
