Poke Pelago but expanded, something like Pokemon Ranch or a Digimon farm.
Bigger more challenging dungeons w/puzzles and secret items, hidden paths etc.

Two styles of battle: The turn-based style everyone's familiar with, and a real-time one where timing/pacing is key; your shout commands and your Pokémon reacts accordingly. Can dodge and combine moves, just like the anime. It'd remain slow and methodical, yet engaging and reactive at the same time.

At least 8 sq. miles of fully-explorable landmass. Deserts, mountains, dungeons, underwater areas, and everything in between.

At least 29 fellow players on screen at a time in the overworld, kind of like GTA Online.

Buff all weaker Pokémon across the board. Redistribute their stats or simply increase them.

Z-moves and Megas return, the latter being toned down a couple of notches.

No longer being forced to wear silly uniforms when riding your Pokémon/bike.

Actually long-sleeved apparel that covers the wrists. And better clothing in general.

Make monotypes more worth using by increasing their STAB bonus or decreasing the bonus for dual-types.

BOTW art-style on the RAGE engine. It can handle so much, even on the base XBox One. Wind and cloth physics. Imagine your Pokémon's ears/appendages flustering in the wind.

Overworld and following Pokémon. Amie/Refresh/Camp is no longer an instance and Pokémon can be sent out anywhere as long as there's space.

Accessories and clothing for your Pokémon. Customizable age and body-types. Skin tones that aren't too dark or light this time around.

New Game+/difficulty settings that don't require losing your Pokémon.

Camera/Theatre Mode.

Natures no longer affect stats.

Not a bad idea actually. Making Dual Types have a x1.25 STAB modifier while keeping x1.5 for monotypes.

Pokemon world tour where the game focuses on you traveling from region to region. There'd be an emphasis on small differences in pokemon between regions, similar to alola versions but not as notable. IE. A pikachu found in a region that's more woodsy would be more like a field mouse and would be on average much smaller but also faster, while a Pikachu found in a more industrialized region might be bigger and more powerful with less power. Maybe SMALL little markings and differences between the regions. All the while going through different region's various leagues until you go to the WORLD championship league which is a pokemon league made up of the campions from all the biggest leagues on the planet.

My ultimate Pokémon game would be one of pure excitement and pleasure. Picture this: you can date, love, and mate every existing Pokémon (including new additions to the National Pokédex), whether they be male or female, gay or straight. The rest of the gameplay is the same as any other core title; you embark on a grand adventure; challenge the gym leaders of the region in which the game takes place; challenge the Pokémon League, and everything in between. Post-game content includes the Battle Frontier and an improved PWT. Oh, and an option for increased difficulty is available from the beginning.

i'm in love with the idea of gym leaders having thematic teams over monotype teams as well.

Say a gymleader's stadium was deep within a chamber etc of a nuclear power plant, his team would be something of the sorts of poison types, electric types, perhaps dodrio. You get the gist.

And say misty as a swimmer/Lifeguard, had a team consisting of Exploud, Floatzel, Golduck and so on.

A hidden base postgame mechanic that syncs up with random players online. Essentially you build a secret gym with trainers and puzzles you set up. If they beat it, they get your custom badge.
Extended underground caverns that require you to bring pp/hp items to explore thoroughly.
All Pokemon obtainable through some means. (Flocks of rare Pokemon on the news like gen 4, safari zone with rare imported Pokemon that change regularly.)
Ridiculously rare legendary spawns.
Add one or more extra new shiny forms that are straight 1/8000 odds.(allows for Gamefreak to correct bad shinies)

Fishing is a real minigame
Theming around an area that isn’t Japan, the United States, or Europe
Rechallenge trainers with teams automatically scaled to yours.

Gyms have different rules you must follow to fight them or special conditions in play ex. no items, only physical/special moves, weather/terrain in effect, etc.

Very few new pokemon, pretty much only new starters, legends and evolutions for older pokemon.

Massive overhaul of movesets, stats and abilities of older pokemon so they keep up with power creep, new Megas and Z moves to help boost viability of struggling pokemon as well.

Games corner with the pokemon stadium minigames that now work online, you also earn points for prizes for playing.

Multiplayer raid battles for legendaries and ultra beasts

Can run through all the gyms/elite 4 on hard mode after beating the champion.

Divided online battle modes, with options not to use legends, megas and Z moves with rotating modes that have silly rules(challenge cup, little cup, stuf like that).

more customizable battle spot rules

6v6 battle spot (would be nice to have 6v6 battle spot if you could disable uber tier legends and be more free with items. maybe you can select pokemon you do not want to be matched against, banning out a single cancer)

make hidden power types easier (assuming bottle caps return at least let use edit the HP type of legends we catch and we can SR for natures at least. HP types are too specific to soft reset perfect ivs for without also having to hack the IVs + nature.)

bring back megas and add more megas

no new pokemon except for 3 starter lines and the box legends. Focus on buffing/giving megas to underused pokemon based on previous generation's statistics. You can't miss new pokemon you didn't know existed but you can miss pokemon that got culled for something else, and you can fall in love with your favorite better if it becomes good after being a shitmon (see mawile and beedrill).

no unnecessary minigames (mantine surfing)

hidden abilities are guaranteed when breeding with a hidden ability mon. Pokemon hatched with HA can swap to any of their other abilities but also swap back to the HA ability, similar to how egg moves work.
