The fact that we haven't had a really good influx of relatively realistic or so-fake-it's-real leaks is the #1 reason we've had almost no hype from the beginning. With the culling of mons its now #2, but still.

TPC and GF cracking down on leakers is shooting themselves in the foot, especially now when there's almost no excitement.

I remember being hype as fuck for xy and sm, I know it's fun to hate on the games but fuck the build up was the best part of them bc of leakers. I remember being so fucking exited when Serebii dropped the entire BW dex in shitty hand drawn glory. Hell I'm old enough to remember when there were weird stupid leaks for gsc.

The fact we have almost nothing in the way of leaks but one post is indicative of how much Pokemon needs to do something.
