No Pokémon has ever been king of a generation like Snorlax was in Gen 2. Why is that?

idk I'd consider at the very least Tauros to be the king of gen 1 in the same vain as Snorlax is the king of gen 2. Aren't there only like 8 viable mons total in gen 1 OU?
It's just the small selection of mons in general. Johto is comfy but it only introduced 100 new mons and a lot of them were hot garbage.

Tauros, Chansey, Snorlax and Exeggutor all have >90% usage in Gen 1. There is no standout king, more like a joint rulership. There are definitely more than 8 viable mons in RBY, though almost every team falls into the Big 4+Lead+Lategame threat archetype.
