>>39138760That is true, since the beginning of the anime it was shown that all 3 of them (Meowth included) had different callings and would be much better off doing those than always trying to capture other people's Pokemon. They honestly aren't cut out for that sort of thing because there's just too much good in them.
Take for instance the fact that they're always strapped for cash. Instead of robbing people they get actual honest jobs and work hard for the money to build their contraptions. Not to mention the immense amount of love and care they put into their Pokemon. When you compare them to people like Pokemon Hunter Jay or even Cassidy and Butch, they just aren't cut out for the whole villainy thing.
This is one of the reasons why I didn't like what they did to them in the Unova region. They tried to make them badass, even took away their signature "We're blasting off again!" shctick in favor of a more competent and organized tactical retreat
